The apprenticeship program at SMB Medical combines classroom education with practical experience. From their very first days, apprentices are involved in the department’s daily activities, learning how to use machinery, tools, and procedures with the support of tutors and more experienced colleagues.

Every day represents a new step in their growth journey.

Learning by doing

Training takes place directly on the job. Apprentices observe, try things out, ask questions, and progressively put what they have learned into practice.

Their daily activities may include:

• preparing machining operations
• operating CNC lathes and milling machines
• reading technical drawings
• checking measurements
• maintaining and organizing the workstation

Every experience helps them develop precision, independence, and responsibility.

Discovering the entire production process

The apprentices’ journey begins in their assigned department, where they learn the fundamentals of the profession and build their core skills. They then have the opportunity to rotate through the different departments at SMB Medical, gaining first-hand experience of the main stages of production: from forging to machining, through to the laboratory. This experience allows them to understand how each department contributes to the production of the final component and provides them with a comprehensive view of the entire production process, supporting broader and more informed professional growth.
